10 totally awesome things to do in Sydney this December

December is here and it’s not called Silly Season for nothing. It’s probably the busiest month of the year for most, with party invites being thrown out left, right, and centre. However, if you’re looking for something a bit different, or you do have a spare moment, or you just want to do something other than partying, we’ve found 10 totally awesome things for you to do in Sydney. And not all of them involve alcohol.

 

  1. Watch Muriel’s Wedding The Musical

    In 1994, Toni Collette hit our screens as the socially awkward, I just want to get married, Muriel Heslop. It was an ABBA fueled movie which the world fell in love with. It’s now been turned into a stage show and will be running at The Rosyln Packer Theatre until Jan 27 2018.

  1. New Breed, Sydney Dance Company

    If you love dance, then this is for you. New Breed is a showcase of emerging choreographers and The Sydney Dance Company. This year’s choreographers include Sydney Dance Company’s Petros Treklis, Cass Mortimer-Eipper, and Nelson Earl.

  2. 107 Objects Makers Market

    If you’re passionate about supporting local makers, then this is the perfect Christmas market for you. It’s a two-day market in Redfern and brings together artists and creators from the volunteer-run website 107 Objects. At least two thirds of the process go directly to the maker. The afternoon-to-evening markets will feature 20 stallholders across the weekend.

  1. Christmas Markets

    If you love the way Europeans do Christmas, or you’d like to see it for the first time, the Christmas Markets are on down at Central. There’ll be gourmet European food on sale to fill your tummy after work, or some late-night shopping. The markets will be up and running every Thursday night.

  2. Twilight Racing on Sydney Harbour

    Do you fancy yourself as a bit of a sailor? This is your chance to handle the big job of “pulling ropes” in a real yacht race, on Sydney Harbour, during the twilight hours. What’s more you can celebrate at the end with post racing drinks at the Yacht Club.

  3. Yoga from the Sky at Sydney Tower Eye

    Perform your sun salutations close to the sun every Wednesday morning at The Sydney Tower Eye. With an epic 360 degree view from the Observation Deck, there could be no better place. Plus, a yoga mat and brekkie is included!

  1. Finders Keepers Markets

    Over 1,000 local artists, designers, and makers. Combined with over 200 food and beverage stalls, live music, bars and food trucks. Sounds totally awesome to us.

  2. The lights of Christmas

    St Mary’s Cathedral will be the centerpiece of Sydney’s Christmas celebrations. Presented by AGB Events, the lights of Christmas promise to capture the audience’s imagination with a light and sound display to get you in the festive spirit.

  3. Sunday sunset sessions at Fort Denison

    Ok, so if you can’t escape the need to party then you may as well do it in style. Fort Denison is delivering Sunday sunset sessions throughout the summer. It includes a tasty set menu, music performances from local musicians, and cocktails if you want them – plus, only the best views in Sydney!
