There’s a life-size jewellery box on Macleay Street and it’s called Antiques Art Design. Every piece found in it is exquisite and hand-picked by owner, Christopher Becker. Opened in 2015, Christopher brings his extensive experience in the fashion, interior, and brand design to create Potts Point’s very own Aladdin’s cave.
Best known for his Georg Jensen collection, Christopher is an avid collector. He’s called Potts Point home for over 20 years and it’s easy to understand why he’s such a hit with the locals. His store contains everything that makes Potts Point such a wonderful part of Sydney– class, rarity, beauty, soul.
1) Why did you choose to open your business in Potts Point?
Potts Point has been my home for over twenty years and therefore I understand the area and the diverse groups of people who live here. This made it an obvious choice for me to start my business here.
2) What do you like most about owning a business in Potts Point?
It’s the sense of community that I so enjoy which makes being a business owner in the area so rewarding for me.
3) What have been the main inspirations for your business?
I just love discovering things that I think are beautiful, and have unique stories attached to them, and so a motivation for starting my business was to be able to share those experiences with other people.
4) What are the most significant changes you have noticed in the area, since opening your business?
So much has changed in Potts Point. When I first came here, if you wanted to go to a cafe for breakfast you got in a car and drove to Black Wattle Studios in Glebe. Today, there are amazing dining experiences for breakfast, lunch and dinner to be had anywhere in the area; like the ever popular Fratelli Paradiso, Thomas Hyde, Room 10 and Bistro Rex…. or grab something yummy on the run from Bottega Del Vino.

Cosmopolitan, Dynamic, Diverse, Exciting …..and Home
