Where to watch a Christmas Carol concert in Sydney 2019

We don’t know about you, but we’re starting to get quite excited about Christmas. Work is coming to a close, the kids are off school, so now it’s time to finish off the Christmas shopping and start putting the finishing touches to the holiday plans. That’s why we started looking for Christmas carols. Because nothing gets you in the mood quite like a singalong to jingle bells.

Thankfully, there’s no shortage of Christmas concerts or places to go and hear carols in Sydney:

Woolworths Carols in the Domain

At 37 years old, it’s still Australia’s largest FREE Christmas concert and it’s happening on Friday 21 December from 7.45pm. This year you’ll see performances from Mickey Mouse, Shannon Noll, and The Wiggles to name a few. But don’t fret if you can’t make it because, as always, it be screened live on TV.

The Lights of Christmas at St Mary’s Cathedral

These are synonymous with a Sydney Christmas. A beautiful light display at St Mary’s Cathedral plus spectacular sound show every night until Christmas Day, including carols at 7.30pm.

Christmas at the zoo

The whole family can get into the festive spirit in this iconic location. Sing along to your favourite carols against the backdrop of Sydney Harbour, whilst listening to the background noises from the animals at Taronga zoo on Saturday 21 December 2019. You’ll enjoy amazing performances and a special appearance by a certain VIP from the North Pole. $22 for children and $40 for adults.

Coogee Carols

If you live in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney, there’s a very good chance you’ve heard of this one. Every year thousands of families set themselves on the grounds by Coogee beach and listen to local celebrities performing a mix of traditional and contemporary carols. There’s a live band and of course, Santa will be making an appearance. This year’s celebration will be hosted by Amanda Keller, and Simon the Red Wiggle will also be making an appearance.

Choirs in the City: Martin Place

Every evening until Christmas Eve, a different choir takes residence in Martin Place to sing carols to the masses. The time they’re there varies day-to-day, so for more information head to the City of Sydney website.

Carols Under The Bridge, Kirribilli

On Saturday 21 December, you can be sitting under the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge, singing We Wish You a Merry Christmas whilst soaking in the harbour view. Hosted by Kirribilli’s Church By The Bridge, it’s sure to be a carol concert to remember. Just bring a picnic from 5pm and enjoy the Christmas Carols from 6pm-8pm.
