With us all in lockdown, thankfully there are some simply glorious walks in and around the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney. So, you can get your exercise in whilst admiring the view and following the rules.

Here are 8 of the best local walks in and around the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney.

Coogee to Bondi walk

Or Bondi to Coogee depending on where you begin. It’s one of the most famous – and photographed  – walks in our area. With breathtaking scenery, it’s the perfect track for a heart-pumping trek or relaxing stroll. There are a lot of stairs and uneven ground though so it’s not really suitable for prams.

If you don’t want to go the whole length, you can stop and turn around at Bronte which is approximately halfway.

Rose Bay to Watsons Bay walk

Walk along secluded beaches, beautiful parks and picturesque bays – all with the most amazing, panoramic views of the city. If you don’t want to walk back, you can catch the ferry to really make the most of the views.

Distance: 8kms one-way

Christison Park to Inner South Head walk

This is a leisurely stroll along the coastline which includes some lovely sights like the historic Signal Station, Macquarie Lighthouse, Gap Park, and more. It’s a nice, easy walk that will get you out in the fresh air without too much exertion.

Distance: 5kms one-way

Centennial Parklands walk

This track is great to do with the family as it’s paved. Meaning it’s easy for prams, scooters, bikes, rollerblades, roller skates and skateboards. There are two nice cafes for you to stop for takeaway, and there is play equipment for the little ones to enjoy.

Distance: 3.7kms

Rushcutters Bay to Rose Bay

Walkthrough some of Sydney’s most exclusive eastern suburbs and stroll through historic, tree-lined streets along the way. Start at Rushcutter Bay, near Kings Cross and Darlinghurst and stroll through many parks along the way. The harbour views the whole way along are incredible with highlights like Redleaf Pool, Seven Shillings Beach, Point Piper, Lady Martins Beach along the way.

Distance: 5.5kms one-way

Clovelly to Maroubra

Walk along the glorious coastline between Clovelly Beach and Maroubra via Coogee and Gordons Bay. It’s a great view and you’ll get a great workout with some steep staircases and inclines. There’s even the Clovelly outdoor pool to cool off once you’ve finished – if you’re brave enough to dive in during winter of course.

Distance: 12kms one-way

Hermitage Foreshore

Another easy coastal walk. Start at Nielsen Park where you can admire the view of Shark Island, Sydney Harbour Bridge and the grounds of Strickland House along the way.

Sydney Harbour Bridge to South Head

This is a big one that will take all day or about eight hours. It’s an intermediate track so it’s not suitable for prams or wheelchairs but if you can do it, it’s simply amazing. You’ll walk through top attractions like The Royal Botanic Gardens, Mrs Macquarie’s Chair, Nielsen Park, Vaucluse House and Horn Lighthouse. So if you have the time and energy, it’s well worth the trek.
