Australian made Mother’s Day gift ideas

We are an avid supporter of local businesses here in Potts Point, Sydney. But in the lead-up to Mother’s Day, we thought we’d widen the net to support Australian-made. So, if you’re looking for the perfect Mother’s Day gift — and you’d rather buy Australian-made — we’ve found some great gift ideas.

Kablooie Store

If you have a mum that loves happy, quirky, handmade ladies’ fashion in a size 4-26, then look no further than Kablooie. Every item ordered is individually hand-cut and hand-made in Brisbane by local seamstresses in their own home studios. The offcuts are then used to make ‘surprise pockets’, sleeve pieces, belts, scrunchies, and bags — it’s slow, sustainable, small-batch fashion.

The Australian Natural Soap Company

Who doesn’t like beautifully smelling, essential oil-rich, handmade soap? We think your mum definitely will, which is why we stumbled across this sweet-smelling enterprise, The Australian Natural Soap Company. Made in Melbourne, what started in the kitchen has now upscaled to a factory where they employ from the local area. Everything comes beautifully wrapped and you can buy gift packs too.

Creative Hardt

If you have a mother or grandmother who still loves to handwrite messages, then head to creative hardt. Here you’ll find letter writing sets in a variety of floral and cute designs, illustrated by Belinda Lindhardt on the Central Coast of NSW.

T Creations

This young — and when we say young, she is just 13 years old — lady decided to start her own candle-making business in the first COVID lockdown. And so T Creations was born. Here you can find beautiful soy candles presented in stylish matte black tins, tealights, and melts in a range of scents to suit every nose.

Stuga

This local artisan makes leather handbags, wallets, purses, iPad cases, and phone wallets from his studio in the Southern Highlands of NSW. Stuga is the handmade boutique where everything can be made to order, so you can create something extra special, just for mum. And if your mum is looking for a plastic-free alternative to shaving, he also hand carves wooden shaving brushes, hand makes shaving soaps, and sells metal razors.

Love and West

Does your mum love cushion covers and all things vintage? Love and West was founded by a trio of graphic designers who share a love of vintage collections and linens — especially the souvenir tea towels their mothers would collect. So, they decided to design and sell handmade vintage linen tea towel cushion covers, tote bags and denim skirts.
