Looking at local – Adora Healthy Living

Adora

In a world where conflicting health messages are everywhere, it’s really refreshing to walk into a shop and feel completely confident in the advice you’re receiving. One thing that’s clear is that they care. Dorota and Bob, a father and daughter team, are dedicated and passionate about what they do; so much so that they’ll even deliver supplements to the locals who are too sick to leave the house. Dorota’s love for health food and nutrition combined with her dad’s biological knowledge – as a former biology and PE teacher – make a formidable (but very approachable) team.

The passion and knowledge that these two share combined with the homely, kitchen like feel to the store makes any shopping trip an enjoyable and educational experience. The range is HUGE and of the highest quality, as only the products that they know to be incredible will make it onto the shelves.

We asked Dorota to share her answers on owning a business in Potts Point:

1) Why did you choose to open your business in Potts Point?

I live locally so ideally wanted to keep work local. I also researched the demographics of the surrounding areas and felt my shop would fit in well with this neighbourhood.

2) What do you like most about owning a business in Potts Point?

It has a vibrant and cosmopolitan feel combined with a lovely community. Plus, we have such wonderful customers!

3) What have been the main inspirations for your business?

My passion for healthy living and natural products, as a result of overcoming various health issues when I was young (after not getting any answers or results from doctors, like many of my customers have reported as well). Also, sharing my knowledge and that of my staff, with our customers. Educating them about why certain things are good for us and how they affect our system and overall wellbeing.

4) What are the most significant changes you have noticed in the area, since opening your business?

The area seems to have ‘cleaned up’ a bit over the past 5 years. Some of that due to the lockout laws. More dining outlets have opened up, although less retail in the area.

5) Give us 5 words you would use to describe Potts Point?

Cosmopolitan, central, coffee, dining-hot-spot, well-travelled.
